The stories you find on Youtube are so crazy. I spent half the day staring at my tiny laptop screen like a magnet because of one disturbing story i stumbled upon on Youtube. I mean who wouldn’t be drawn to a title that says “Mom gives Botox to 8-year old daughter”. Gotcha! I bet you were drawn to read my blog too when you see the title huh?
So this is the story that caught my initial attention:
Then I could help but find out more about this story;
So now she denies it?? Geez…
This is another interview she did. In the Good Morning America interview, she said it hurt a “little bit” but got used to it. Here, the kid had an oops moment when she said her botox hurt. Observe how she looked to her mom for reassurance.
So yeah this story is crazy, and stupid. (Yet i was still determined to find out more about it.) Whatever it is, Anderson Cooper summed up my thoughts.
It good to see someone from your own small town do very well in their life, and be famous because of it. I’m so proud of these homegrown talents who made it big. There are a handful but i would like to focus on Mia Palencia. Such soulful voice. Such talent. Beautiful.
She grew up being in the lime light. Always have. I first knew her when she sang at our school event. She was a couple years my junior. It was clear that she is a rare talent and who will not stop doing what she does. More than 15 years later, she’s still singing..and doing even more. To find out more about her, go to her homepage Mia Palencia. Check out her latest album too Songs from the Jiwang Kingdom.
Enjoy one of her song from her latest album. Really hit home for me.
I know Valentine is waaaay past and further away to the next but i just love this song. Its very sweet. The singer and writer of this song is just as sweet too. Saw her on Youtube (best source of music and raw talents.) Check her out.
Love. Its a special day. We should celebrate and appreciate the you and me. Found something neat. Be mine. Be my Valentine. I will love you. I LOVE YOU.
Everyone around me are talking about football…everyone got the FIFA fever…its not really my kinda game and im not dat into it…but heck just for the fun of it i guess i can pretend to be into it huh? The last time i was so engrossed in it was the last FIFA…i had this stupid idea of taking on a bet with a friend..and i lost! This is wat u get when u have no idea whch team is better or no idea who the hell the players are and den taking on a bet with someone who lives by football…oh well…it was an experience tho’…this time round i’ll just stick to pretending to be excited but if friends invite me to watch the game at the irish pub, i just say my mum wants me clean the aquarium…I did however youtubed that Waka-waka song by Shakira…I LOVED IT!! its so colorfull!! Colors of africa mahn! The music is just so uplifting! Great job Shakira! Eventho’ i dont know the meaning of Tsamina mina..waka-waka…Here’s the vid for your enjoyment!
My weekend was a blast and it didn’t even involve any alcohol!
It started right after work on Friday…my friend & I went to watch a free movie screening at Suria GSC…not a new movie but still it was free…Right after the movie, we went sushi frenzy at Wagamama..my friend had a 50% discount voucher. Eventhough we only had 45 mins to closing time we managed to finish up 10 plates (far less than what we used to eat years back) but hey..we were damn bloated with sushi. On the way back to send my friend to her car, we saw that there was a Kaamatan night market at Gaya Street…so we decided to stop by and just have a look. We ended up goin from one stall to the next camwhoring and testing out shades and hats! Who cares if the stall owners looked irritated at us…we did but a pair of shades each…We finally moved back to our cars but before we part our ways and each drove home, we had this stupid idea of again…camwhoring with our new aviator shades…in the car…at night in the middle of nowhere!! So much fun! Havent had that much laugh in a while…
Saturday – woke up late as intended. In the afternoon it rained so heavy but no complaints there. I had to do some errands with my cousin. Some stuff to arranged for her sister’s wedding end of May. By 3pm, I had to rush back home and change to my sports outfit…badminton with two other friends. Damn! I was drained of my energy…but yet..no complaints still. After the badminton session, we suddenly decided to go for fish head curry at the famous Krishna restaurant….so we all rush back home and freshened up and head for dinner at 8pm. The three of us managed to finish a huge pot of fish head curry…urgh! There goes our workout few hours before… And again another impromptu plan came up…we wanted to watch a movie..and a movie we did watch…Freddy Kruger’s Nightmare on elm st… ol’ time classic!
It was good that none of us were sleep deprived from the movie the night before. Woke up late on Sunday…again,.intended..headed for lunch. During lunch…another impromptu idea came up..this time to go for a drive and look for this new resort called Kasih Sayang resort. We called again two of our friends, picked them up at their houses and headed for Inanam…we werent so sure where the resort is but who cares..if we end up in Kinabalu Park…oh well…we just trust where the wheels of my car will lead us. Just after Menggatal town we saw a signboard that reads Kasih Sayang…so uphill we went. we passed thru’ beautiful scenery…ones that we dont usualy get to see. It was the view of the whole of KK! What seemed like an endless drive uphill we finaly reached the resort. It’s a very small resort built just at the cliff hill. We only realized that where we were was at the Crocker Range. We hang out there for a bit just to let the rain pass. Its such a nice place..and the best thing…its really cold..and we didnt even have to go far…thumbs up for Kasih Sayang Resort!
Soon after we headed back to KK and on the way we stopped by 1Borneo just to walk around and eat some donuts! What a way to sum up the whole weekend…DELICIOUS & SWEET!!!
A beautiful song from a beautiful (and extremely talented) guitarist. All this world need are more smiles…so smile more peeps
People should smile more
Im not saying theres nothing to cry for but you’ve got
Everything laid out for you
Just close your eyes, take a deep breath and start another war
Keep buying, keep moving, this city, is sitting,
next to me, well laid out, it’s gona come, one thing is certain
I can’t change the world
Cos tryin’ to make a difference makes things worst
It’s just an observation I can’t ignore
That people should smile more
People should smile more
But the lights are so bright that they blind you, just one more
Meaningless scientific break through
The more we know, the less we care whilst damaged on the way
Keep moving, keep buying, this city, is sitting
Next to me, well laid out, it’s gona come, one thing is certain
I can’t change the world
Cos tryin’ to make a difference makes things worst
It’s just an observation I can’t ignore
That people should smile more
Doo doo ba doo da doo dee dee do x4
I can’t change the world
Cos tryin’ to make a difference makes things worst
It’s just an observation I can’t ignore
That people should smile more
I can’t change the world
Cos tryin’ to make a difference makes things worst
It’s just an observation I can’t ignore
That people should smile more
Yup…that’s how I felt the whole day today….and that was where I was too, Lok Kawi Wildlife Park.
Few days back, I received a surprising text message from an old colleague from my previous company whom I haven’t heard in a while. She invited me to spend a day at the zoo with some other colleagues who I also have not met since I left the company. I wasn’t really soooo excited about the zoo thing..but I was thinking like, what the heck right..at least I get to hang out and laugh with my friends. And laugh we did..LOTS!!
So today we all met up at the zoo about 10-ish…just in time to ride on Boy, the Bornean elephant. Cute lil’ fella…We went around the zoo…walking, laughing, taking lots of pictures, laughing some more, talking to a bird (yeah! That was funny…) laugh again… This talking bird I was saying, I forgot what name, I think in the parrot family, is black with a dash of orange on its head. This bird easily picks up sentences and mimics people’s voices. So anyway, we all passed by its cage and tried talking to it..All it said was “Hi!” and “Bye!”, so we moved on to another cage..I was the last in line..suddenly that same bird called out “Dari mana kau?” (meaning “Where you from?”) in a typical Kadazan (ethic race in Sabah) slang. I called out to my friends and we ended up going back to the bird and spent quite awhile there trying to make it talk more. We managed to get some other sentences from the bird like “Ni Hao Ma?” and “Negara ku…”..so cute!! It was nice to spend a day with the animals. (eyes roll..okaaaay…) but yeah I kinda like it and what I realized was that each zoo staff have their favorite pet. Like there was this hornbill stuck like glue to its caretaker. You can really see their tight bond…the guy was nudging the birds head and playfully boxing its beak,..really bonding ya’ know? Then there was another guy with his baby Orang Utan. So adorable!!! If I had a choice of which animal I can take as a pet, I would go for the Orang Utan definitely. But it’s sad to say that these wild animals are kept in captive. Most of the animals are in really small cages and just restricts them from their natural behavior. So you end up seeing these animals sleeping..I was really sadden by the cages for the leopards and this White Chest Sea Eagle…its so bloody small that they can’t even move around! Eagles are my favorite bird cuz its so majestic and beautiful. Especially when it’s flying…the eagle in the cage can’t even fly 10 ft across. I feel so bad for the bird.
Anyways, the zoo really isn’t that huge but since we took our time looking at the animals, taking pictures and talking & laughing along the way, at only halfway through we got reaaaaaly hungry and thirsty…Well, we didn’t realized that it was already 1pm. We quickly headed towards the exit and off we went to the nearest restaurant, J Borneo.
It’s a very nice and interesting place. Very cool ambiance. All its furniture is made of natural wood. Kudos to the carpenter! Lots of interesting carvings in different places. You’ve got to have a good eye to spot them. We had lunch. Yummy! And then…some of my colleagues just couldn’t resist having a few sets of beer and karaoke! Beer mid-afternoon…hmmm…We ended up conquering the karaoke and singing our hearts out till almost 5pm…
So yeah..I had fun..hope we could do it again..not to the zoo though..probably another place…Simpang Mengayau perhaps??hheheeh
I like this song. Its so catchy, upbeat and feel good. Life is really just a big show…you cant do much about it but just try to enjoy the show…The video is not bad too. Very simple & light and it just shows that whatever & whenever life pulls her, she lets it be and just smile about it…Nice work Lenka!!
I’m just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don’t know where to go, can’t do it alone
I’ve tried and I don’t know why
Slow it down, make it stop or else my heart is going to pop
‘Cause it’s too much, yeah it’s a lot to be something I’m not
I’m a fool out of love ’cause I just can’t get enough
I’m just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don’t know where to go, can’t do it alone
I’ve tried and I don’t know why
I’m just a little girl lost in the moment
I’m so scared but I don’t show it
I can’t figure it out, it’s bringing me down
I know I’ve got to let it go and just enjoy the show
The sun is hot in the sky just like a giant spotlight
The people follow the signs and synchronize in time
It’s a joke nobody knows, they’ve got a ticket to the show
Yeah, I’m just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don’t know where to go, can’t do it alone
I’ve tried and I don’t know why
I’m just a little girl lost in the moment
I’m so scared but I don’t show it
I can’t figure it out, it’s bringing me down
I know I’ve got to let it go and just enjoy the show
Just enjoy the show
I’m just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don’t know where to go, can’t do it alone
I’ve tried and I don’t know why
I’m just a little girl lost in the moment
I’m so scared but I don’t show it
I can’t figure it out, it’s bringing me down
I know I’ve got to let it go and just enjoy the show
Just enjoy the show, just enjoy the show
I want my money back, I want my money back
I want my money back, just enjoy the show
I want my money back, I want my money back
I want my money back, just enjoy the show
Woahhh….i think i ate too much durians..im getting a little dizzy…This is the 1st time we had so much durians around at home. Usually the whole family will fight for it cuz its not always we get to eat the smelliest fruit in the world (yet its the creamiest and delicious)
My grandmother’s durian trees are bearing fruits by the dozens…the last it bear that much was more than 10 years ago. This time round, we were practically giving it away to friends & extended relatives. For the past few weeks my parents (my dad especially) have been going back to my grandma’s to literally wait for the fruit to fall from the tree. Everyday they would get around 30-40 durian fruit. So u can imagine how much there is to eat. I did tell my dad to sell it off to fruit vendors but he said we dont get to eat durians that often and everyone in our family loves the fruit..so why sell it off?? True..but there’s just so much we can take at one time…im starting to get sick of it…especially the smell and I dont want to end up hating the fruit all together…Im seeing durians every where..in my fridge there are literally containers full of durians..and the smell seeps into everything in the fridge..even our water tastes like durian…
see those many containers...
yes...its full of durians
For those of you who just happen to stumble upon my blog and have no idea what DURIANs are..well..this is how it looks like…
The name Durian (pronounced /ˈdʊəriən/) comes from the Malay word ‘duri’ meaning thorn..which simply describes the fruit. Its flesh has a very creamy texture which is usually yellowish. But there are some species that is red or orange (which i personally am not a fan of those species).
Its a fruit that is found in South East Asia…we call it King Of Fruits cuz of the thorns which can cut you. And of course its extremely strong smell. Most people would say it has a foul smell but some find it aromatic…The smell is so strong that most airlines and hotels have notices that ban this fruit from being brought into their premise. I remembered there was one scene in the reality show Survivor where one of the challenge was to eat durian….my family laughed so hard cause if we were to be put to that challenge, we’d win it hands down.
Anyway, as much as I LOVE Durians, i think i’ve had enough for this year…anyone wants some?
What they say
